The 5th World Shuttlecock Championships

Dear Members:

We are much pleased to inform that the 5th World Shuttlecock Championships will be staged in Szolnok City of Hungary from October 6 to 10, 2007. All International Shuttlecock Federation members and other interested countries and regions are welcome to send teams to participate.

The Executive Committee Meeting and Congress of the International Shuttlecock Federation will take place at the same place on October 8, 2007 during the world championships. Each member is requested to send 2 delegates to attend the said meetings and watch the Championships. The Hungarian Shuttlecock Association shall receive 1 team leader, 6 male players, 6 female players, 2 coaches and 1 judge from each member association while the travel expenses to and fro Hungary shall be borne by the participants themselves.

5th World Shuttlecock Championships

Regulations

3.Timing
October 6 to 10, 2007

5. Place
City Sport Hall, Szolnok, Hungary

6. Participation Method
(1) Each ISF member is entitled to enter one team and non-ISF member countries or regions are equally welcome to participate. The host country is allowed to enter two teams. Each team shall be composed of 1 team leader, 6 male players, 6 female players, 2 coaches and 1 judge.

(2) Each team is requested to bring with them a judge who shall be able to judge at the championships.

7. Categories
Men's Group. Women's Group, Men's Double, Women's Double, Man's Single, Woman's Single and Mixed Double.

8. Competition Rules
(1) Specifications of the Court
The same court (11.88m in length and 6.10m in width) shall be used for the Group, Double and Single events.

(2) The best two out of three system with scoring for each serve shall be applied to all events. 21 points/set for all events shall be used.

(3) In case of a tie at the 20th point, the serve shall be rotated, i.e. the team with serving right in due time shall serve, but the serving right shall be rotated to the other side regardless of winning or losing. The tie shall be broken until one side wins two more points first.

(4) The whole championships shall be divided into two stages: at the fist stage, round robin system shall be adopted while at the second stage the elimination system shall be used.

(5) Valid Hitting Times
1) In the Group event, the shuttlecock should be touched no more than 4 times by each side each time;
2) In the Double event, the shuttlecock should be touched no more than 4 times by each side each time;
3) In the Single event, the shuttlecock should be touched no more than 2 times by each side each time;
4) In all the above events, any player from each side is allowed to touch the shuttlecock no more than two consecutive times.

(6) Serving
1) In the Group event, the team with serving right shall change the places of their players clockwise first and then the player on No.1 Place shall serve;
2) In the Double event, the serving right shall be rotated.
3) In the Single event, the shuttlecock should be served to the valid area of the opponent side.

(7) Players to compete in the Double events should be confirmed at the time of check-in and no change is allowed after the confirmation.

(8) In the decisive match, the two sides competing shall exchange their sides whenever anyone of them scores 10 points.
(9) The "Xin Jian" Brand shuttlecock made by China Jiangsu Taicang Shuttlecock Factory shall be used for the 5th World Championships.

9. Entry
(1) First Entry:
All participating countries or regions are requested to confirm their participation with the International Shuttlecock Federation and Hungarian Shuttlecock Association in writing no later than July 15, 2007.

(2) Second Entry:
The attached entry forms with name list should reach the International Shuttlecock Federation and Hungarian Shuttlecock Association no later than September 1, 2007.

10.Arrival and Departure
(1) Arrival: October 5, 2007
(2) Departure: October 11, 2007

11. Joint Meeting of Team Leaders and Judges
The Joint Meeting of Team Leaders and Judges shall take place at 19:30 on October 5, 2007 and all participating teams are requested to send at least one person attend in due time.

12. Expenses
(1) The Organizing Committee shall provide all participating teams with free food and accommodations and local transportation during the Championships.

(2) All travels expense to and fro Hungary shall be borne by all participating teams.

(3) All earl arrivals, late departures and extra members of any participating team shall be charged UDS 50 per person per day.

13. Ranking and Awarding
Top 6 places of all categories shall be awarded certificates and trophies while the top 3 places shall be awarded medals as well.
